Dress Code

Cultural Welcome Party

For our pre-wedding event, the Cultural Welcome Party, we invite all our guests to embrace the spirit of diversity by dressing in traditional attire from any country you wish to represent. We are proud to share that our wedding will be a truly global celebration, with guests joining us from 40 different countries. This is a wonderful opportunity to showcase the beauty of global cultures. If you're unsure what we mean by traditional attire, please click here.

Wedding Day

On the day of the wedding, we kindly request that you wear formal attire. While Lisbon can get quite warm, we will ensure there is plenty of shade and fans to keep you comfortable. We recommend dressing to impress, as the event will be held at one of Portugal's most prestigious palaces.

Ladies, we ask that you please avoid wearing shades of white, including white, cream, and ivory, unless they are mixed with other colors.

Passports

You'll need a passport to travel to Portugal. You can travel without a visa to the Schengen area, which includes Portugal, for up to 90 days in any 180-day period.  Portugal follows Schengen area rules.

Your passport must:

  • have a ‘date of issue’ less than 10 years before the date you arrive – if you renewed your passport before 1 October 2018, it may have a date of issue that is more than 10 years ago

  • have an ‘expiry date’ at least 3 months after the day you plan to leave the Schengen area

You need a visa to visit Portugal (even for a short period of time)  if you are from one of the following countries:

Cambodia, Myanmar, Ghana, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Russia, Thailand, Uganda

If you need to apply or renew your visa, please account for 6-8 weeks for processing.

Transportation

Welcome to Lisbon!

Lisbon airport (Humberto Delgado Airport) is right in the city, and only about 4 miles away from the city center. You can get there via:

Uber or Bolt
Uber and Grab are widely available and very cheap in Lisbon. We recommend trying both apps because sometimes rides are cheaper on Uber and other times it can be cheaper on Grab. But we would suggest to use one or the other as your primary mode of transportation. The Uber pickup location is at Terminal 1 in Humberto Delgado airport, near departures entrance. You need to go outside, to Kiss & Fly parking where you will meet your driver. You'll see details, directions, and pictures of the pickup spot when you open your Uber app.

Metro

There is a metro station at Lisbon Airport linking to the city center. The line that goes to the airport is red, Baixa is green. Service runs between 6.30am and 1am. Frequency: Every 6 to 10 minutes (red line)

Currency

The official currency in Portugal is the Euro.

Debit and credit cards are widely accepted in Lisbon. If you'd like to withdraw Euros, you'll find ATMs scattered throughout the city. If you prefer to exchange cash when you arrive, you can do so at banks and exchange offices registered with Banco de Portugal. You can also exchange money at the airport (Unicambios), but expect to pay a premium.
